Honey Pomelo

When I saw these today, also in Kipa, I couldn't decide if they were a melon, or a citrus fruit, in fact they are the largest of the citrus fruit family, but are the size of a small melon.

The skin of the ones I saw today were more yellow, but when cut open they are very distinctive.

The fruit comes from South East China, it is seedless, the juice is mostly sweet but occasionally slightly sour with a smell of honey.

The skin on the segments is quite tough, so it is best to remove the skin and then they can be added to salads and deserts or made into jam.
